This comprehensive study of Operation Market Garden covers the airborne forces landings and the advance of XXX Corps, through to the withdrawal across the Rhine. Stepping off the beaten track you will get to isolated sites of action as well as visiting the main memorials and museums. Visits to the Hartenstein museum, Lonsdale Church & John Frost Bridge are included. Time is set aside on the 17th for our attendance at any local anniversary ceremonies.
Day 1 - Travel from the UK to our central Nijmegen Hotel.
Day 2 - Walk one - The drop zones and Wolfheze to Oosterbeek. Hartenstein Museum. Walk two - Around Oosterbeek perimeter- Defending the cauldron.
Day 3 - Grave bridge and Groesbeek for the excellent National Liberation museum, landing zones, cemetery and memorial to the missing of the campaign. Walk three - a town walk around Nijmegen and the bridge.
Day 4 - Driel and the evacuation. Time for attendance at local ceremonies. Walk four -St Elizabeths Hospital to John Frost Bridge. A bridge too far.
Day 5 - Travel Home.
